2020 ROK SONOMA PRESENTED BY SANZARU SCHEDULE REVEALED ALONG WITH NEW CHALLENGE OF THE AMERICAS AND CALIFORNIA ROK CHAMPIONSHIP PARTNERSHIP

Changing things up from previous years, ROK Sonoma Presented by Sanzaru has revealed their 2020 schedule. Working with both the Challenge of the Americas (COTA) and California ROK Championship (CRC), ROK Sonoma will kick off their eight-race season in late March and finish in mid-October. With two combined events where ROK Sonoma will share events with both COTA and CRC, series officials are working together to grow the Vortex ROK brand in the state of California.

“2020 looks like it will be an amazing year for the ROK Sonoma series. Sharing two dates with Challenge of the Americas and the California ROK Championship will ensure even more growth for all the ROKKERS on the West Coast,” explains ROK Sonoma’s Steve Cameron. “We’ve had some amazing growth, particularly in the Shifter classes, and I believe adding Andy’s events will also recharge all the Tag classes and continue to build the numbers. Sonoma’s SimRaceway Performance Karting Center is not only the premier West Coast track, it will now also offer the best West Coast Regional Championship available.”

“I’m excited to end the 2020 Challenge of the Americas and open the ROK Sonoma year at the same event,” adds COTA and CRC Promoter Andy Seesemann. “Combining the events will yield huge fields and kickoff the Spring and Summer ROK Racing season on the West Coast. The two programs already boast the biggest Shifterkart fields in the West, and it’s possible that we could have 30 kart fields in each of our two ROK shifter classes.”

With the first event not until the end of March, series officials have provided ample time for teams and drivers to solidify their 2020 schedules as well as travel plans.

Seesemann continues, “As I look to restructure the CRC program for 2020, it made complete sense to bring the finale up and combine with ROK Sonoma. The CRC is a California State ROK Championship, and it wouldn’t be complete without a trip to SimRaceway. Once again, combining the events should yield larger fields than we have seen in California Regional two-stroke racing over the past season or two. As other programs shrink or add classes just to maintain the same numbers, ROK is growing in the West and it is due to solid partnerships like this.”

“All three of our West Coast ROK programs are professional, fun, competitive and family friendly events,” adds ROK Cup Promotions Director of Operations Garett Potter. “They are what karting should be about, and we are very excited about the future of California ROK competition. We are working on more projects with these programs and the teams that support them to help grow our sport. Additionally, I personally would like to send an extra special thank you to other northern karting programs that agreed to work with us in an attempt to better the state of karting in California.”
