From Around the Paddock
The 2022 edition of the ROK Cup USA’s ROK Vegas Presented by Radical Cup event got off to a slow start as wind overnight damaged the temporary circuit at the RIO All-Suite Hotel & Casino causing officials to delay the start of practice. Pushing the schedule back nearly five hours, ROK competitors were still allotted their five on-track sessions as the day ran into the night providing sparks to fly as the sun set and the Vegas lights turned on. With all drivers filling their complete schedule, the rest of the weekend is planned to run on time with no interruptions.

“It was a trying morning for sure, but our crew rallied around and got everything back in order,” expressed Garett Potter. “When we arrived this morning, there was no track, no fencing, and no real direction. We managed to get everything back in order, secured differently, and provided our competitors with the on-track sessions that they came here to do.”

Back to the RIO, New Track
A one-year hiatus away from the RIO Hotel came to an end this week as ROK Cup USA moved back to the location that served as their home since the inception of the event. While the hotel and paddock layout were the only familiarities from previous seasons, a new track layout greeted ROKKERS and held up to the task today when karts eventually did hit the track. With a ton of passing in practice including a variety of corner speeds, teams and competitors are looking forward to the first green flag and wheel-to-wheel racing on Friday.

Largest ROK Cup USA Event in USA Ever
With 370 entries confirmed, the new number eclipsed last year’s total of just over 350 setting a record for ROKKERS at a ROK Cup USA promoted event weekend. As the event continues to grow, ROK Cup USA staff continues to adjust their schedule to accommodate the increase in racers, but also is also working hard to make sure that they provide the best customer service in the paddock.

Looking Forward
Drivers will be put to the test once racing begins as progressive style heat races will set the grid for Championship Sunday. A DNF or poor result could hurt a driver’s chances at victory but with the grids as stacked as they are, every position will count in the quest for Vegas glory.

Tune back in for two practice sessions and qualifying on Thursday for ROK Cup USA’s ROK Vegas via the ROK Cup USA App or on rokcupusa.com.
