ROK Sonoma Presented By Sanzaru Race #3 Is Dedicated To All The Mothers That Lovingly Support Their Racing Drivers
Mini ROK to be the Feature Race
So that we might all be available to spend time with our Moms on Sunday, Mother’s Day, Race #3 will be held on Saturday, May 12th with practice on Friday. Saturday there will be several raffles for the moms and a photographer will be available to take pictures of the drivers and their mothers at the podium throughout the day. A picture will be given to the driver at Race #4 with additional available for purchase.
Saturday’s race schedule is designed to allow everyone time to head home early to be with their moms. There will be one PreMain and the Main but additional time will be given for practice and extra laps for each main.
Kid Karts will start racing this weekend bringing in new racers to the sport. To determine the number of Kid Kart drivers please preregister using the registration form linked below this post or on the www.sanzarukarting.com website. Email the completed registration form to Paula at paula@sankarukarting.com. The track configuration will be the National Pro track.
The Mini ROK class will be the “Featured Class” for this race. The winner of the featured class will receive $100 in Sanzaru Bucks to be redeemed at upcoming ROK Sonoma (presented by Sanzaru) races. The Mini ROK class has had large turnouts in the first two races. A strong group of drivers are running up front in the class this year, with Stephen Eisert as a compelling points leader with First place finishes in both races. Ethan Nascimento, Harrison Marsh and Andrew Freire are close behind.
This year’s Senior ROK class has a challenging field of drivers and will be the class to watch. Clayton Williams is leading the way with Ryan Tate and Michael Avansino working to overtake him with mere points between them. But one could expect wins coming from the other returning drivers Bijoy Garg, Dakota White and Christopher Martin.
The points are structured with each PreMain and Main receiving points based on their finish and the points increase with each race. So, a driver that finishes Race #1 and #2 in first may be surpassed by a First-place driver at Race #3 depending on the others driver’s finish. Therefore, it is important to attend every race straight through to the last for the maximum points. The race weekend will start with a Practice day on FRIDAY. Due to the unknown number of drivers available on a Friday we will have open practice. Practice starts at 9:00 AM and runs to 5:00 PM. Registration will open at 8:30 AM. Practice is open to all drivers who are up to normal racing speeds with a kart that meets current karting safety specifications. Cost is $60 for Practice only.
SATURDAY’S race day begins at 8:30 AM with a quick round of practice for the seven race groups followed by a five-timed lap group Qualifying session, one eight lap Pre-Main for Kid Karts, 13 laps for Mini ROK and Micro ROK and 17 laps for the remaining classes. The Main will have 10 laps for Kid Karts, 18 laps for Mini ROK and Micro ROK and 25 laps for the remaining classes. Registration will open at 6:00 AM. Race Entry is $110, $15 for transponder rental if needed, $10 for all crew and spectators, and kids under 12 years old are $5. Registration is at the administration building on the right side as you enter Sonoma Raceway, look for the Karting Registration sign.
