Year in Review 2015: Mini ROK

The Mini ROK class was by far the largest field of any ROK class in the series. And they might just be the most competitive too. Even though these young drivers may play and joke off the track, when it comes to racing they mean business. The class had over 30 drivers during the season and was stacked with some of the best young racers around.

In the battle for the championship, the field was so close that it was anybody’s guess who would wind up on top, even up until the last final of the season. In the end, the 3rd place finish went to Anthony Famularo, with Reece Gold taking 2nd, and Lachlan Defrancesco garnering the top spot in the championship. All three of these drivers were consistently up front and in the top 10 all year long, with podiums results throughout the season. Defrancesco is especially known for coming from the back and fighting his way through the pack, as he did in the last final of the season to finish 3rd in Round 5.

But their competitors didn’t make it easy for them. Other standouts in the class include Alessandro Famularo, Tyler Maxson, Alessandro De Tullio, and Jeremy Fairbairn, just to name a few. We could easily list out the top 10 drivers and with that list speculate how one different scenario could have changed the fate of the championship. When the class is stacked with talent, like Mini ROK is, you have to make every race count. Several of the Mini ROK drivers even advanced to the next class, Junior ROK, which will be the topic of our next year in review, so stay tuned.
